Here at Just Pet Me we try every week to do a weekly article about one of our awesome pups and it is usually a very fun and lighthearted write up. This week’s “Dog of the Week” unfortunately has a more somber tone. When I came into work today I was told that one of our members had an untimely passing and I would like to take some time to tell you all about what an awesome dog Maycee was. Maycee was the kind of dog who always wore a smile, whenever she would come to stay with us her eyes would light up and her grin would double in size. She loved to play in our yard with her other Rottweiler buddies, Topper and Dyta. When she was finished playing with her friends she was quick to find one of our handlers and make sure that she received a good old behind the ear scratch. It was always an absolute pleasure to look after Maycee and it really made my heart sink when I heard of her untimely passing. I would like to leave you all with a poem that always reminded me that even if our loved ones have passed away, a part of them still lives on in us. Here’s to you Maycee, I know you are up there watching over us with that big old grin. May your rest be peaceful.

Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning’s hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry;
I am not there. I did not die.
